President, The Association Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, (APWEN), Engineer (Mrs.) Felicia Nnenna Agubata , has appealed to the general public to support the federal government whenever final decision on tolling along our roads rise up again, she made this during a public lecture and induction of new members of The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Apapa Branch, titled: The Nigerian Engineer and The Political Challenges in Lagos at the weekend.
Nigerian Engineers have come a long way in politics, but thank God their effort has started to yield good fruit, for the first time in Nigeria politics, we have four governors as Engineer in Ebonyi , Oyo, Nasarawa and Borno States, we also have Engineers as deputy governor and not talk of National and States House of Assembly, same way as we have them as ministers and commissioners because by service and trend, engineers provides solution, she said.
For government to come up with such decision of tolling along our roads, they must have done their feasibility study very well, because it was announced by the Minister for works, they have come up with the needs for the toll to be back on our roads and they would ensure the roads are in order, I think it’s a welcome development, we need to support them, for every action government takes, there must be reason for such and at the end it’s in the interest of the masses.
The era in which Engineers are not given due respect has gone, because with current government and with the signing of Executive Order No 5 into law, that gave Nigerian Professional Engineers to be recognized, I think that is something in the right direction and they have also been living up to the expectation, we are competent, Nigerian Engineers are very skillful, and they are delivering on the their mandate, that I know very sure, she said.
An excellent and recognition award was later presented to Agubata for her contribution for the engineeting profession in the country.
