Chief Superintendent of Police, Gbenga Ogunsakin, has been using his experience and knowledge on the job to transform Ojokoro area of Lagos State and its environs.

Posted to Ojokoro on March 1, 2021 after serving as a DPO in Ikeja, his reign in Ikeja division witnessed transformation in the area, most especially because all sorts of criminality associated with the police in the division became things of past, because he’s very strict, when it comes to bribery and corruption.

“In a chat with Nationalsketch Media recently, CSP Ogunsakin said, there were some groups of guys at MAO junction, within Ojokoro, they had cultivated the habit of smoking hard drugs. I arrested some of them and took them to authority (NDLEA), others had to leave the place immediately.

“Those that I arrested could not be bailed, so, others disappeared. That’s why criminality has reduced to the minimum level in the area. Before I was posted there, they used to go from house to house to rob people, but when I resumed there, nothing of such happened again.

Blocks of Flats Completed

“There had been a good relationship between our men and the community, the way we relate with the community is fantastic because if there is no good relationship they won’t have confidence in us.

“I try as much as possible to let people know that we are for them, and I tell my men that they have to relate with members of the public in a civil way.

“So, the relationship is okay. People now call us for assistance compared to what was obtainable before. They are now friendly because of the way we relate with them,” he said.
