The Delta Police Command has effected the arrests of arms robbery and kidnapping syndicate including another suspect, who specializes in robbing unsuspecting victims with a dummy gun.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Edafe Bright, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen.
Stating that proactive policing is key to crime prevention, he noted that the Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali has continued to press it on DPOs and tactical commanders, and that explains the gains the Command has been recording.
Bright noted the Command’s recent triump as follows:
On Monday 14th June, 2021 at about 11: 30hrs, Eagle-Net Special Squad, while on routine patrol/stop and search duty along Ughelli-Warri express way intercepted a Toyota Picnic car navy blue in colour with Reg. No. AAA 464 YA with six (6) male occupants, the countenance of some the passengers crave suspicion hence they were all asked to come down for search. While at the process of searching, three (3) locally made pistols, two (2) handsets, one (1) mobile phone, power bank and the cash sum of three hundred and sixteen thousand six hundred and forty naira only (N316, 640.00) were recovered in possession of two among the occupants. The two suspects, One Kelvin Godstime ‘m’ age 20yrs of Upper Afisere in Ughelli North LGA and Samson Ekutu ‘m’ age 23yrs of Ugbogeme of Udu LGA were arrested. Investigation is ongoing.
Similarly on the Sunday 13th June, at about 23: 10hrs, The Divisional Police Officer Okpanam Division in a response to a distressed call received that an armed robber entered into the house of the distressed caller (name withheld) armed with a gun forcing victims that does not have cash to transfer money to his account, The DPO swiftly deployed patrol teams to the area. The patrol teams on getting to the scene cordoned the area, and arrested the suspect one Emmanuel Peace ‘m’ about 18yrs old with a DUMMY WOODEN GUN.
The suspect had already successfully forced an aged couple to transfer the sum of six hundred thousand Naira (N600, 000) to an account number owned by one Anwanga Abasi Nathaniel Udo. Other exhibit recovered from the suspect includes two (2) knives and one (1) torchlight. Investigation is ongoing.
