LASEMA Response Team extinguished fire of a burning Oil Tanker loaded to capacity with 46, 000 litres of fuel intact, at the Secretariat Bus Stop, beside the pedestrian bridge.
The incident which received the Agency’s usual prompt response at 1:17am today, immediately it received the Distress call via it’s 767/112 Toll Free Line, recorded no loss of lives, nor injuries, while the the over two-hour operation lasted in the battle against the burning truckhead in order to curtail the fire and stop a highly probable explosion.
While the LASEMA Response Team successfully recovered the gutted Petrol Oil Tanker without any human loss, the feat was achieved without further loss of properties nor damages, with the full content of 46, 000 litres of fuel salvaged intact, at the Secretariat Bus Stop operation, through deployment of it’s heavy duty equipment, the Super Metro and support of other stakeholders.
Further, remains of the gutted Oil Tanker has been safely recovered off the road to avoid any secondary incident, while also ensuring that the road has been successfully set free for vehicular activities before dawn.
Situation Report on the burning tanker at Secretariat Bus Stop under bridge, inward Berger has it that, “Upon arrival of the Agency’s officials, it was observed that a tanker conveying 46 thousand litrs of petrol gut fire. No casualties were recorded.
“The fire was put out successfully by the combined effort of the LASEMA Response Team, as well, as men of the Lagos State Fire Services.
“Furthermore, it was observed that the fire affected only the head of the tanker. No spillage was observed. Efforts were made to take the affected tanker off the road with the use of the Agency’s Super metro.
“In the aforementioned incident; the affected oil tanker has been towed-off the road to a safe place nearby where the head of the affected tanker will be replaced by it’s owners.
