Lagos State suffered another pipeline explosion at the Abule Egba/Ile Ipo Road Sunday night and the aftermath of the incident is still being discussed among victims and residents of the metropolitan state.
The residents of the area reportedly noticed fuel leakage since Sunday afternoon, but they were said to have been unable to concentrate on the issue due to a football match between Liverpool Football Club of England and Manchester United didn’t that kept the men busy throughout the day time.
Eventually, residents of the area noticed that danger was lurking around the area at about 7:00 pm, when the spillage resulted into a wild fire around Igoke Estate in the area.
Residents of the area were said to have run for dear lives and they were said to have called the emergency numbers of the fire brigade of both the federal and state governments to come to their rescue.
However, when Nationalsketch got to the scene of the incident some minutes after 8 pm, no fire fighter, either from the federal or state was around.
It was later noticed that some fire fighters came to the scene of the incident with their vehicle around 9:20pm, and we were reliably told that they were from Surulere area of the state.
Meanwhile, many youths in the area expressed their disappointment with the fire fighters, and openly challenged them for reportedly arriving the scene of the incident late despite several calls by the residents.
Two lives were reportedly lost to the inferno, while a victim of the incident was seen being taken to the hospital for medical attention.
It was not yet clear as at the time of filing this report, if the victim was able to survive the incident.
It was however, gathered that properties worth millions of naira and buildings were destroyed by the inferno, while some long vehicles and cars were also burnt beyond repair by the unfortunate fire incident.
