The Bankole Ruling House of Ito-Omu Town, Epe, Lagos State has called on the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene in the brewing crisis in the town.
According to the family, there is a plot to remove their name from a list of ruling houses despite founding the town.
Over the years, the Bankole Ruling House has been producing the Baale of Ito-Omu Town, having produced the Baale of the town three consecutive times.
Trouble, however, started when in a bid to be graded; the ruling houses in the town approached Epe Local Government and submitted a list of five ruling houses eligible to produce the Baale in the town.
The list was vetted and approved by the local government, after which it was forwarded to the tribunal.
Things, however, took a different turn at the tribunal when the list of five ruling houses submitted increased to seven with two other names added.
The situation went from bad to worse when the state executive council acting on the perverse decision of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs reduced the ruling houses to two, in the process eliminating the Bankole Ruling House.
Calling on Governor Sanwo-Olu to intervene in the issue, the ruling house stated that the decision of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs to remove the name of Bankole Ruling House from the list was perverse, and has thus caused tension in the community, with a lot of people already calling for blood.
Alhaja Waidat Oniwolu nee Bankole, the Head of Bankole Family, explained the circumstance that is set to cause a crisis in the town, calling on Governor Sanwo-Olu to intervene quickly.
According to her, the pruning process was fraudulent. She wondered how it was possible for the state executive council to prune the list and eliminate Bankole Ruling House which actually founded the town.
