The annual Music Youths Fiesta, organised by the senator representing Lagos Central Constituency, Senator (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu, held Wednesday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.
This year’s edition which is 9th in the series had the
theme: “Sacrifice of Praise.”
The fiesta was uniquely different from previously held editions, and it was significantly aimed at winning souls for Christ, most especially the youths, as revealed by the convener, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while the programme had thousands of youths in attendance.
The Senator was filled with happiness for seeing youths coming out to give their lives to the saviour of the universe (Jesus Christ) after which prayer was offered for them.
“The theme of the year’s edition; ‘The Sacrifice of Praise’ was borne out of concern for the state of our nation.
“We all, including the youth, have a role to play. As long as we all keep our focus on Jesus Christ during this event of praise. I believe that God will come down and show us mercy.
“Hebrew 13:15-16, says that our praise will never be hindered,” Oluremi Tinubu said.
One of the highlights of the event was a performance by the Mountain of Fire Orchestra Group, which performed such that the guests were so impressed that they had to join them in singing to show appreciation to Almighty God.
All the guests, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and their spouses, were forced to take to the dancing floor by the rendition.
Other gospel artistes and groups performed to the amazement of dignitaries present at the occasion.
Apart from Mountain of Fire Orchestra, there was the Redeemed Christian of God Choir and a few others.
Youths from the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state were in attendance.
MYFI had, since 2011 served as a platform for the youths, to pull their resources and talents together in order to help set the pace and chart a way forward for other youths in the country.
On the significance of praise in the polity, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat restated the governor’s commitment towards education and youth development.
According to him, “Over the years, the Lagos State government had invested massively in the education sector to boost the economy; this is because the government knows the potential and importance of education of our children.
“Education still remains the passport for tomorrow to those who prepare for it today. But even in the midst of learning, there should also be avenues to showcase talents, like what we’re doing today.”
