The chairman, Board of Trustees, Trinity University, Pastor Samuel Olatunji has advise the government of Nigeria to take a critical look at current curriculum in operation in Nigeria’s university.
It’s unfortunately because the kind of curriculum offered in schools this day, did not prepare the youths at the end of the day, we are having lots of fall out in our churches, but It’s more political challenge, the Education woes is a political challenge, we have to develop an orientation, a curriculum and an examining system that would equip people adequately for life so that could cope beyond school because the world has changed radically, he made this acertion in Lagos during 25th years anniversary of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Salvation Center, G R A, Ikeja, Lagos.
Youths in Nigeria is challenged because there’s no credible leadership they could follow, the challenge is that, what they are learning today is not what we learnt in our days, we were more enterprising, more involved, learning was more credible, character building was there, integrity was there, solid learning and competency but today is a different ball game entirely.
The board room guru, who was also one of the pioneer pastor in the centre between 1995 -2008, was among the five pastors presented with an award that includes, Pastor Biodun Coker, Pastor Wole Sarumi, Pastor Steve Mayo and Pastor Dapo Olarinmoye, for been part of development of the church since inception.
Youths must come to the understanding that you don’t learn everything in the school .
He further told Nationalsketch exclusively, when he was transferred to the parish October 1995 as the Parish pastor, in those days, we were very young congregation, Salvation Center was a beautiful place to be in, we were very prosperous and very bonded together, 25 years we learnt to work together and share fellowship, shared experiences and life challenges and we relate and since then we have continued our relationship far beyond Salvation Center, we have all went different places and we thank God all of us, has done excellently well in life, it’s been wonderful what God has done with all of us by virtue of being together under God learning, under His feet.
Very clear and there’s very strong focus what we were there for, we were there to learn, grow, bond and reach to the community we there to show we knew what we say and what say what we knew, is the kind of bond you don’t find in the churches anymore.
secondly, they need skill beyond academic skill, they need entrepreneurial skill and life skill and employability skill, they have to prepare for all of these.
Every body has 24-hours in a day, American president, Donald Trump has 24 hours in a day despite his schedule, is a matter of what you want do with your 24-hours, everybody has enough time with whatever you what to do.
The current pastor of the parish, Pastor Olu Ayeni, was thankful to all invited pastors for honoring the invitation to be part of the history making of the Salvation Centre.
